Chapter 11: Encryption and the Internet
|
Encryption offers a solution to a lot of problems on the Internet, including system security, private communication, and verifiable authentication for documents, software and Web sites. Although specific encryption techniques cannot be described in detail to a nontechnical audience, general approaches can be described to a general audience. Chapter 11 explains both private-key and public-key encryption, how digital signatures work, and the difference between strong and weak encryption.
