Chapter 11: Economic Analysis of...
Synopsis

This chapter develops an economic analysis of how banking regulation affects the behavior of banking institutions. This analysis explains why banking is among the most heavily regulated sectors of the economy, why the banking crisis occurred in the 1980s, and whether recent banking legislation or other proposed reforms are likely to ensure that future financial crises can be avoided.
