Errata The following errors have been found in the first printing of Fluency with Information Technology. Updated October 6, 2003. Chapter 1. p. 15, l. 8: "(See Figure 9.9 in Chapter 9 for a list of prefixes)" references the wrong figure. The correct figure is 9.11. p. 27. l. 15: Short Answer question 1 is out of place. The answer (digerati) is given in the next chapter. Chapter 2. p. 49, l. 13, 15. The effect of the tab is inaccurately displayed. "Capulet's..." should move left and "He jests..." should move right so that the "C" and the "H" align. Also, the bracket before Juliet should not be italics. p. 52, l. 5. Figure 27 is missing.
Chapter 3. p. 74, Figure 3.6. Mislabeled icon. The right hand side computer should be labeled "Destination Computer"

p. 82. l. -10. Space problem. The path name should be Chapter 4. p. 118, l. -19. Superscript as a subscript. The pn should be pn. p 220, Figure 8.7: The ASCII table has two "0010" entries in the top heading. The second should be "0011".

Also, there should be an arrow from box 4 to box 6. p. 295, Figure 11.6. The explanation for the second number(16) should read "binary representing decimal number 16." p. 308, Great FIT Moments. Delete "however" from the first line. In the next to last line replace Science with Technology.

Appendix B. p. 682, Array References entry. The syntax specification should be <array_name>[<index>]p. 686, Table B.3. Two entries are difficult to understand. The concatenation entry specifies that if the operator is given one numeric operand and one string operand, it converts the numeric operand to a string and concatenates, as in 6 + " pack"
The decrement entry is difficult to read ... there are two minus signs shown as in Glossary. p. 705, RAM entry. The entry should end with the "... random access memory, pronounced"
