How will I benefit from The Chemistry Place?
Students will have access to a rich set of resources that offer study and test preparation help. The Chapter Guide provides an overview of the resources on the site with correlations to each chapter section. Within the Tutorials feature, they will find help on key concepts. The tutorials make use of Shockwave and Flash technologies for an experience that cannot be developed in a traditional print product. Quizzes and Review Questions offer self-quiz questions (above and beyond those found in the print Study Guide) for each chapter of the book, with answers and feedback. Learning Goals provide a review of key concepts students should know for each chapter. Career Focus gives job information, resources, and suggestions for other web sites related to particular careers. Students can also access a Periodic Table and a Calculator. Instructors will benefit from the same resources available to students. In addition, instructors may access an extensive Syllabus Manager, which allows them to create an online syllabus complete with weekly assignments, projects, and test dates that students will be able to access from our site.

Is this site meant to replace a textbook?
No. A textbook is a valuable, comprehensive resource for students. In fact, many of our contributors are also textbook authors. At The Chemistry Place we've created learning activities that are designed to take advantage of the website's interactivity and that act as a valuable supplement to the teaching and learning of core concepts. With The Chemistry Place, educators and students will discover that they save time finding relevant resources on the Web.

My browser gives me a message that it is running low on memory. What should I do?
Try quitting any other applications that you have open. If this does not work, try allocating more memory to your browser. To do this, quit your browser (e.g., Netscape or Internet Explorer), locate your browser within the Applications folder on your hard drive, click on it once to highlight it, and select Get Info from the File menu. In the information dialog box under Memory Requirements, increase the Preferred Size. The suggested size is 18,000. (These instructions assume you are using a Macintosh; PCs should not experience this problem.)
